About Us

Vision

Newcomers to Canada are provided with the opportunity for full and equitable participation in the Calgary community.

Mission

To provide leadership and resources to influence public attitudes and knowledge and support capacity of service providers in the immigrant sector.

Structure

The Immigrant Sector Council of Calgary is made up of representatives from government, funders, immigrant agencies, public institutions and ethno-cultural/multicultural centres. Our collaborative model intends to bring together key stakeholders of the immigrant sector in order to work towards the timely and equitable integration of newcomers. Additional sources of support to the ISCC are external groups that either directly or indirectly maintain the work of the ISCC. These supports may provide human resources or administrative assistance or communicate the work of the ISCC to their networks in the community.

The ISCC is Co-chaired by an immigrant agency representative and a funding body representative.  Chairs change bi-annually. Currently, Fariborz Birjandian and Jill Francis are the ISCC Co-Chairs. The ISCC is staffed by a Senior Manager, Project Manager, a CARE Strategy Manager and a Senior Administrative Assistant. Contact us for more information.
